Matias Silvestre says he is ready to replace Lucio at Inter after completing his transfer from Palermo.
The 27-year-old was presented to the media on Wednesday and he’s looking forward to the challenge of stepping in for the Brazilian following his switch to Juventus.
“Taking the place of Lucio is an important responsibility, but I am ready despite the competition for places,” the South American noted.
“I have joined Inter at the right stage of my career and I have the desire to do well. I want to show what I can do so I can win the faith of everyone here.”
Silvestre is recognised as a centre-back, but he has insisted that he is versatile enough to be used elsewhere if necessary.
“I prefer to play in the middle, but I can also play at right-back,” he continued. “We are a strong squad, we are preparing well for the new season and Inter’s objective is to win.”
Silvestre was being linked with a variety of clubs, but he insists that the Beneamata were at the top of his wish-list.
“I’ve always wanted this team,” he insisted. “They were the most interested club in me from the beginning and there are already a lot of fellow Argentines here.
“I want to be at my best when the season starts.”
