Cagliari have taken steps to protect themselves from a move from Milan this summer for Davide Astori by tying him to a new contract.
The 25-year-old was on the verge of joining Russian side Spartak Moscow earlier this summer, before President Massimo Cellino vetoed it at the last moment.
Subsequently declaring his love for the Sardinian side, Astori has put pen to paper on a one-year extension to his contract at the club.
Whilst that sees him tied until June 2015, the notable difference is in the improved wage he has reportedly been handed. From the previous €400,000 annual salary the centre-back was on, Cellino has apparently handed him a new €800,000 yearly wage.
Milan, the club that he spent his youth career with, have been linked with a move for the defender in anticipation of losing Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain.
