Milan may have found their Thiago Silva replacement in the form of Stuttgart centre-back Serdar Tasci.
Silva's move to Paris Saint Germain for a whopping €42m was confirmed on Saturday evening, easing some of the cash strapped Diavolo's financial fears but leaving them vulnerable in central defence. Without any further new arrivals Coach Massimiliano Allegri will be left to rely on the ageing Mario Yepes, the erratic Philippe Mexes and the untested Francesco Acerbi. Daniele Bonera can also play in the middle.
Cagliari and Italy defender Davide Astori – who came through the Rossoneri's youth academy – has been touted as a potential solution, but Sport Italia are contending that Vice-President Adriano Galliani's focus has now switched to Tasci.
Of Turkish descent, Tasci has made 14 appearances for the German national side and over 150 for Stuttgart, where he is club captain. His deal with the Bundesliga outfit expires in June 2014.
Milan will reportedly be able to bring Tasci on board for €12m, but must hurry to avoid being beaten to the punch by Tottenham.
