Genoa have blamed Juventus for wrecking Mattia Destro’s move to Roma, though there is still hope. “Juve offered him better wages and money counts in life.”
The transfer had been all set to go through once Genoa and Siena struck a deal with Roma, but Destro infuriated his owners by apparently turning down the personal terms.
“I don’t know how this matter will end,” admitted Genoa director of sport Pietro Lo Monaco.
“Roma were certainly the club that over time showed they had real interest for Destro, but money counts more than anything else in life and Juventus offered him better wages.”
There are now reports a meeting is planned between Destro’s agent and the Roma staff on Monday to work out a new deal.
