Sampdoria Coach Ciro Ferrara has let down the fans by confirming “Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini are unavailable at the moment.”
There were numerous rumours that the ex-Blucerchiati pair would be reunited at Marassi after the side earned promotion back to Serie A.
Inter have put Pazzini on the market, while Cassano is unhappy at the weakening of the Milan squad.
“Cassano and Pazzini are unavailable at the moment,” said Coach Ferrara.
“Who knows, perhaps in future Cassano could come back, as the President said, but right now it is impossible.
“We still need a couple of reinforcements. Andrea Poli has to make a decision on his future. He wants to compete for bigger objectives and we will try to make him happy.”
Under-21 international midfielder Poli spent last term on loan at Inter, but has been heavily linked with Juventus and Fiorentina this summer.
“There are things we need to improve on and others that went very well. One of the prerogatives of our 4-3-3 tactical approach is pushing up from behind into the spaces created by strikers.”
