Roma saw off Polish side Zaglebie Lubin 4-0 in Chicago this evening with Francesco Totti taking a wide left role.
Zdenek Zeman’s men began their US tour at Wrigley Field, the home of the Chicago Cubs baseball team.
It took just 60 seconds for the Giallorossi to open the scoring with a long Panagiotis Tachtsidis pass for Bojan Krkic, who then rolled across for Pablo Daniel Osvaldo to tap into an empty net.
Bojan went for goal himself and had a solo effort deflected on to the upright, before Tachtsidis doubled their lead with an inspired lob from the edge of the box.
A defensive error allowed Pawlowski to go through, but he fired over when one-on-one with Maarten Stekelenburg.
Moments later, Erik Lamela also scored with a left-footed chip and Bojan added his name to the scoresheet with a fantastic mazy run past four defenders to beat the goalkeeper.
Zeman made six substitutions at half-time, introducing Totti on the left side of his trident attack, Nico Lopez on the right and Bojan centre-forward.
Nico Lopez went very close straight away, then set up Totti with a flicked pass over the top of the defence, but the captain’s volley thumped the upright. By this stage, Bojan had been substituted, moving Totti to centre-forward.
Zaglebie were also dangerous, as Vidanov’s effort ricocheted off the post and on to the crossbar.
