Pescara are celebrating after they were completely exonerated in the betting scandal. “Our behaviour was impeccable.”
This morning the first charges were made in the investigation into alleged match-fixing in Serie A, B and Lega Pro, but Pescara, President Daniele Sebastiani and director general Fabrizio Lucchesi were cleared.
The Delfini – promoted to Serie A this summer – were implicated due to a 2-0 win over Albinoleffe in February 2011.
“A charge would’ve been unjust, but above all inexplicable considering our behaviour was impeccable,” said President Sebastiani.
“The prosecutors understood that we were completely extraneous to any involvement. From the moment I was interrogated 10 days ago in Rome, I had clarified our position with the prosecutors.
“The news we have been cleared also allows us to concentrate even more on the transfer market and concluding those moves we had already started in recent days.”
