Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has underlined the importance of Zdenek Zeman on his career to date.

Insigne has returned to parent club Napoli this summer after spending spells on loan at Foggia and Pescara under the Czech tactician, who is now at Roma.

“Zeman was fundamental for my growth as he gave me the opportunity to play with regularity,” the Italian Under-21 international told Radio Marte.

“He’s very different to Napoli’s Walter Mazzarri. Zeman makes you sweat on the steps, but he was always a fan of my ability and told me to just stay calm.”

Big things are expected of the local boy, especially given that the Azzurri opted to sell Ezequiel Lavezzi to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

“I’m happy to be here,” he added. “I’ve matured as a player and now I just need to maintain my calm and be noted for my value.

“I had only seen certain champions on TV before, now, instead, I am training with them. I want to win something with this shirt.”
