Valencia’s President has confirmed today that the club are in talks with Milan over a proposed move for Spanish full-back Didac Vila.

The 23-year-old left-back joined Milan in January 2011 from La Liga side Espanyol, but spent the entirety of last season back on loan at the Catalan outfit.

Having returned to San Siro this summer, the player was confirmed by Adriano Galliani to only be available for a permanent transfer, otherwise he would remain in the Rossoneri’s plans.

Previously linked with Benfica, reports this afternoon suggested that Valencia had edged an advantage in negotiations for the player’s purchase, which would take the form of an initial loan, but have an enforced option inserted next summer for Los Che to buy the player outright.

Speaking to the media this afternoon, Valencia’s President Manuel Llorente confirmed that completion of the deal is close.

“It is true that we are negotiating with Milan for him,” Llorente told reporters on Friday.

“Our sporting director Braulio has for several days been in contact with Milan and I believe that everything is proceeding in the direction we want.”

It is thought that the Primera Division side will pay an initial €800,000 to take Vila on a 12-month temporary basis, before handing over a further €4.2m next summer to make that switch permanent.
