Urby Emanuelson is confident “this has to be a good season for me” after he scored Milan’s winners against Chelsea and Schalke 04.

The Dutchman played as part of a Christmas Tree formation in last night’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea in Miami, joining Kevin-Prince Boateng and Stephan El Shaarawy.

“It was a good game for us,” he told Milan Channel. “We did well in defence and I am happy to have scored another goal.

“This has to be a good season for me, better than the last. So far I’ve done well this summer with two goals in as many games and I want to continue like this.

“I feel good and having played two seasons at Milan really helped me grow as a player. Now the team is doing better too, as the internationals have joined pre-season training and without doubt that helps.”

Emanuelson was particularly won over by new teammate Riccardo Montolivo, who played in front of the defence.

“Montolivo did very well, seemed relaxed with good possession and very confident in his own abilities.”
