The Italian Super Cup match between Juventus and Napoli will have goalline officials and they could be extended to Serie A this season.
The Scudetto winners and Coppa Italia holders face off in Beijing on August 11.
“That match will have the use of six officials, including two goalline officials,” confirmed AIA (Referees’ Association) President Marcello Nicchi.
“We cannot yet say at which point we will begin that system in Serie A. We don’t want to run into surprises or find ourselves out of sync with the European guidelines.”
The use of goalline officials has been criticised after errors still occurred during Euro 2012.
