Fiorentina have confirmed the permanent transfer of Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani and Villarreal duo Borja Valero and Gonzalo Rodriguez.
La Viola have been strongly linked with the former Roma, Juventus and Milan regista in recent weeks and their owner Andrea Della Valle earlier today confirmed that an agreement had been reached.
“ACF Fiorentina announce the arrival on permanent moves of Borja Valero Iglesias and Gonzalo Javier Rodriguez from Villarreal Club de Futbol and of Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool Football Club.”
There had been reports that Aquilani would arrive on loan or with Liverpool paying part of his wages.
With the player in Florence this afternoon undergoing his medical ahead of signing a three-year contract - which is reputedly going to be part-funded by Liverpool - the Anfield club have also confirmed his sale, for an undisclosed fee.
“Liverpool Football Club can today confirm that Alberto Aquilani has completed a permanent transfer to Serie A side Fiorentina,” read the note posted on their official website.
“The Italian midfielder joined Liverpool in 2009 but made just 28 first-team appearances having spent the last two seasons on loan in his homeland.
“Everyone at the club would like to wish Alberto all the best for the future.”
