New Fiorentina buy Borja Valero is impressed with the squad being constructed. “Now it’s up to me to help this group grow.”
The midfielder arrived on a permanent transfer from Villarreal along with Gonzalo Rodriguez, joining other new signings Alberto Aquilani and Matias Fernandez.
“I knew two weeks ago that there was a chance of coming to Florence. I’m happy to be in Italy and didn’t think twice about accepting Fiorentina,” he said in a Press conference today.
“It’s true that with Aquilani and Fernandez we are really starting to form a midfield of great quality. We will do well.
“I am versatile and can take on many different midfield roles, although I do prefer to be more advanced. If I have to express a preference, then I’d say centre-midfield, though I have played on the right and the left.”
Borja Valero was a surprise signing and one of several big stars to come to Florence over the past few days.
“When they presented the Fiorentina project, I was told that big players would arrive and I believed in their plans.
“Now it’s up to me to help this group grow. I hope to do well here.”
