Mirko Vucinic fired up Juventus for Saturday’s Super Cup clash with Napoli. “We want to avenge the Coppa Italia and dedicate victory to Antonio Conte.”
The match in Beijing is between the Scudetto winners and the Coppa Italia holders, as in May Napoli beat Juve 2-0 in that Final.
“We are still very hungry, so we want to avenge the Coppa Italia and dedicate the victory to Conte,” said Vucinic in his Press conference.
Coach Conte will be in the stands, as it’s widely expected he’ll receive a 10-month ban for failing to alert authorities to a potential fix during his time at Siena in 2010-11. He is fighting the charges, but the verdict is due today or tomorrow.
Massimo Carrera takes over on the bench, although even if suspended Conte will still be able to take control of day to day training.
“Conte seems relaxed and the same as always, close to the team and very concentrated on the match.”
Vucinic skipped the last two friendlies due to a slight injury and so he could be with his wife, who gave birth to son Matija on July 20.
“I am in good shape and they made me run like crazy over the last week. Are you sure I’m going to start, though?
“I get on really well with Alessandro Matri and Sebastian Giovinco. I already played with Matri last season and am getting the hang of Giovinco, he’s very technical and reminds me of Alessandro Del Piero. Of course, Alex is unique and cannot be replicated, but Giovinco is still very similar as a player.”
