Roy Hodgson has recalled Michael Carrick for the August 15 friendly between England and Italy.

The two sides already clashed in the Euro 2012 quarter-final, where the Azzurri dominated but were forced to win only on penalties.

Manchester United man Carrick had asked not to be considered for international duty in January, but injuries to Scott Parker and Gareth Barry have prompted his return to the midfield.
