Zdenek Zeman made a surprise visit to his old club Pescara and “made a promise,” while the Delfini have “set an ultimatum” for Jelle Vossen.

Zeman helped Pescara to their first promotion in two decades last season, but left in the summer when Roma put in the call.

“It was a thoroughly welcome surprise,” said President Daniele Sebastiani of today’s impromptu visit.

“We knew sooner or later he’d come to see us, even if we had no idea it would be today. We all had lunch together with him and the new staff, including Coach Giovanni Stroppa. It was wonderful to see the old and the new with reciprocal respect.

“He told me he’s satisfied with Roma, but did not say the word ‘Scudetto.’ Zeman also confirmed to me that Pescara have a good squad.

“Will he return to us at the end of his career? We made a promise the moment he chose to join Roma. I won’t reveal it, but it is a wonderful thing and I hope it will happen in future.”

President Sebastiani also commented to Sky Sport Italia on the troubled negotiations for Genk’s Belgian international striker Vossen.

“We set an ultimatum for Vossen on August 16. We cannot wait forever and, if we don’t receive a response, then we’ll make other choices.

“Samuele Longo of Inter could be a credible option, yes. We have changed a lot from last season, but our strength has always been the collective.”
