Lorenzo Insigne scored a fine goal for the Under-21 side today and admits “I hope Cesare Prandelli will call me to represent Italy.”

The Napoli striker cut in from the left flank and curled into the far bottom corner during today’s 3-0 friendly win over Holland.

“We put in a great performance, are in good shape and have to continue along this path,” said the pint-sized forward.

“We give the best of ourselves in the Nazionale because we know the world is watching.

“It had been a long while since I played alongside Ciro Immobile, but you can see how well we get along thanks to our time at Pescara.”

Several Azzurrini were promoted to the senior squad for today’s friendly with England, but Insigne wasn’t one of them.

“Of course I hope Cesare Prandelli will call me to represent Italy. It is the objective of every young player.

“Now I am concentrated on the Under-21 side and am at Devis Mangia’s disposal. If the senior Italy side were to call, then I’d be very happy, of course.”
