The agent of Lorenzo Insigne has admitted that his client is waiting for a call to the full Italian international side.
Insigne is currently a key member of the Under-21 set-up and scored in yesterday’s 3-0 win over Holland.
Then just hours later he watched a number of his U-21 colleagues win their full debuts in Italy’s 2-1 loss to England.
“Cesare Prandelli is keeping him under observation,” Antonio Ottaiano told Radio Sport Live on Thursday.
“We hope that he will be able to realise his dream of playing for Italy and we would like him to be called up as soon as possible.
“We’re on standby.”
Insigne returned to parent club Napoli this summer after spending the last two seasons on loan at Foggia and Pescara.
“The player is proving himself at a good level,” his representative added.
“Considering that Goran Pandev will be suspended, we expect Insigne to start in Week 1 – although the Coach will make the decision.”
Napoli travel to Palermo when the new season starts.
