Cristiano Lucarelli has retired from football and taken on a new job as Coach in the Parma youth academy.

The striker turns 37 in October and his last club proved to be Napoli, where he scored one goal in 12 appearances over the last two years.

He returns to Parma, where he played in 2008-09 and where his younger brother Alessandro is still a key figure in the team.

Lucarelli was Serie A Capocannoniere with hometown club Livorno in 2004-05 and, among others, played for Valencia, Lecce, Torino and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Like fellow veteran Pippo Inzaghi at Milan, Lucarelli has hung up his boots and gone straight into a role as Coach of the Allievi section in Parma’s youth academy.
