Serie A spending more than Liga

Serie A may seem to be going through a period of austerity, but more has been spent on transfers than in Spain, Germany, France and Russia this season.

ABC are running research into spending patterns in European clubs and reveal that so far, Italy’s top division has spent €281.3m on players.

England’s Premier League remains out in front by splurging €313.1m, while despite the extravagance of PSG, France on the whole has spent €202m.

The big drop-off has been in Spain, where La Liga sides spent a combined €384m last summer, but in the current transfer session are stuck at only €65m.

That’s less than was spent in Turkey (€66.3m) and Russia (€115.1m).
