Turkish giants Galatasaray have confirmed an interest in Mauro Zarate – but they are unwilling to match Lazio’s12m asking price.

“We want to try and get Lazio’s request down from €12m,” club President Unal Aysal told Haber7.com. “If we are unable to do that then I don’t see why the deal will occur.

“Real Madrid’s Kaka? He is still undecided about whether to stay at Real or not,” Aysal continued. “We’ll do all that is possible to sign him.

“But these players are not that easy to convince, yet we’ll keep trying. Zarate, however, is closer to us…”

Galatasaray boss Fatih Terim, formerly of Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”20″>Fiorentina and Milan, has approved his club’s pursuit of both players.

Zarate, 25, has returned to Lazio this summer after a problematic loan spell at Inter during the 2011-12 campaign.

The Argentine forward scored just three goals in 31 games for the Nerazzurri across Serie A, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia.
