Valon Behrami maintains that he has joined Napoli with only one intention – to lift silverware with the Azzurri.

The Swiss international moved to the Stadio San Paolo from Fiorentina earlier this summer and he’s optimistic about the campaign ahead.

“I have never won a championship or Cups and that is why I chose Napoli,” the midfielder told the Corriere dello Sport.

“Napoli are a top club and it is already a marvellous achievement for me to be able to wear this jersey.

“However, I won’t say that S word [Scudetto] because I have understood that Neapolitans are very superstitious people, but it is obvious that we believe.”

The Azzurri will start the season as one of Juventus’ main contenders for the title following their dramatic rise in the Italian game over the last five seasons.

“I don’t think we are missing anything,” Behrami, who rejected a January switch to the Old Lady, continued.

“On paper, we are a complete and strong squad. It all depends on our motivation in games against the big and small clubs.

“But our seven victories in pre-season have illustrated that we have a winning mentality.”
