“If we think about the fact we must play three games in six days then we’ll create confusion. It’s better to take it one match at a time,” said the Coach.
His side were held to a 1-1 draw at Sporting Braga on Wednesday and the decisive second leg is on Tuesday evening.
“We know that we are facing two battles and the team spirit, attitude and tension are those of a side playing for something very important. The opening minutes were wonderful in Braga, though perhaps after taking the lead we felt a little proud of having scored away from home.”
Luis Muriel is in the squad, although nowhere near 100 per cent fit, while Paulo Vitor Barreto and Ighalo are injured.
“I have to consider my attacking options wisely, because with so many games in quick succession I only have Antonio Di Natale at my disposal in terms of strikers. We prepared in training and using Roberto Pereyra in attack is an emergency option.
“Fiorentina are one of the sides who have renewed the most, but also constructed a solid project under Vincenzo Montella, a Coach who has already done great things. He’s one of my favourite tacticians around at the moment and I hope he goes far.”
