Juventus icon Alessandro Del Piero could join Rino Gattuso at FC Sion, after talks between his agent and the Swiss club in Turin today.
Since leaving in the wake of Juve's Scudetto triumph in May the veteran striker has been linked with a host of teams, from MLS side Montreal Impact to Argentines River Plate, but with all the major Leagues now having kicked off he remains a free agent.
According to reports in Italy this evening that could be about to change, with the ambitious Swiss Super League outfit planning another high profile swoop to add to that of Gattuso, who arrived at the Stade Tourbillon on a free transfer in June.
Present at the meeting was Sion's controversial President Christian Constantin, who is renowned for sacking coaches and getting into disputes with the governing bodies in Switzerland. His team incurred a 36 point penalty last season, and were only saved from relegation by new Lazio boss Vladimir Petkovic.
