City attempt to do Maicon deal

Inter and Manchester City are attempting to negotiate a fee for Douglas Maicon before the transfer window closes.

The Brazilian is set to leave San Siro this summer given that his contract, which expires in June 2013, has not been extended.

The right-back has been linked with Real Madrid and Chelsea this summer, but it appears that the Premiership champions are in pole position for his signature.

Reports suggest that the former Monaco man has agreed personal terms with City, but problems exist over the fee.

Inter want €8m, while Roberto Mancini’s outfit have so far only offered €4.5m. Talks are continuing with the deadline set for Friday.
