Bojinov in Serie B?

Sporting Lisbon forward Valeri Bojinov is on the verge of joining Verona, according to the club's official website.

The 26-year-old striker, who was on loan at Lecce last season, has agreed in principle to join the Serie B side, with just a fee to be agreed between the two clubs. It would be quite a coup for Hellas, to snare a striker who only recently was linked with Torino.

An offer of around €500,000 has been tabled by the Gialloblu, with the Portuguese club still undecided as to whether they should let the Bulgarian leave after signing him for €2.6m just 12 months ago.

Bojinov was vilified by the Leoes' fans last year, having missed a penalty in the club's League Cup match against Moreirense. Despite not being the team's designated spot-kick taker, he pushed regular taker Matias Fernandez off of the ball, and skewed the ensuing kick wide. He was subsequently banned by the club from entering the stadium and training ground as punishment.

Bojinov made his name in Italy by breaking into Lecce's first team aged just 15. Since then he has played for Fiorentina, Juventus, Manchester City and Parma, returning to the Salentini on loan last term.
