Genoa President Enrico Preziosi welcomes back Marco Borriello as “the 20 goal per season striker I’d wanted for years.”
It was a transfer deadline day signing from Roma, as Borriello has been unsettled since leaving Marassi in 2008, disappointing at Milan, Roma and Juventus.
“Marco is the hitman I was dreaming of,” said the patron. “It is since the days of Diego Milito that I’ve been looking for someone like him. He is the 20 goal per season striker I’d wanted for years.”
He came in to replace Alberto Gilardino, who joined Bologna, although Preziosi revealed that move was almost very different.
“We had considered an exchange of co-ownership agreements with Napoli, swapping Edu Vargas with Gilardino, but the Partenopei did not agree. So in the end we gave Gilardino to Bologna on loan and brought back Borriello.”
