The Corriere dello Sport is suggesting that Italy could face Bulgaria with a 3-5-2 spearheaded by Pablo Osvaldo and Lorenzo Insigne.
The Azzurri will start their World Cup 2014 qualifying campaign in Sofia on Friday and there may be a debut for Napoli youngster Insigne alongside the Roma ace.
The paper is suggesting that the three-man defence will be modelled on the one used by Italian champions Juventus.
However, as Giorgio Chiellini is injured, Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci should be joined at the back by Torino’s Angelo Ogbonna.
The report also suggests that Bologna playmaker Alessandro Diamanti may be used in midfield behind the duo.
The 25-man Italy squad, which now includes Atalanta's Federico Peluso because of Federico Balzaretti's injury, met up at Coverciano on Monday.
