Mauricio Pinilla has angered Cagliari by going on international duty despite missing a Serie A game through injury.
The striker was dropped from Sunday’s 1-1 draw due with Atalanta to a fitness issue and the club was said to be furious he then immediately flew out to Chile.
“I had a slight muscular twinge on Thursday and did not play as a precaution, as decided by the Cagliari medical staff, but now I am ready to undergo further tests,” said Pinilla.
“I have no problems and think I can train well during this week. I hadn’t been on international duty for over a year, so I am very happy to be here and will take this big opportunity.”
