Carlo Mazzone says he’s disappointed that Alessandro Del Piero has decided to join Australian outfit Sydney.
The Italian legend confirmed the switch this afternoon after ending his 19-year relationship with Juventus.
“I’m saddened by his departure, really saddened,” the former tactician told Radio Marte on Wednesday.
“I don’t understand why he has decided to go and play his football in a land that is so far away. I don’t think he is doing it for money – he doesn’t have those problems.”
While Del Piero has left Serie A, another flag bearer in Francesco Totti is still doing the business for Roma.
“He’s playing well and I’m delighted for him,” Mazzone, who has bossed the captain in the capital, added. “His form is no miracle.
“He’s a serious professional and a proud guy. He always trains with enthusiasm and has great technique. He’s an example for everyone.”
