Viola want Berbatov 'compensation'

Fiorentina didn’t get to sign Dimitar Berbatov and are demanding compensation. “We want the airplane ticket refunded!”

The former Manchester United striker caused huge controversy when he flew out on a plane paid for by the Viola in order to complete a medical, but never arrived.

Instead, he stopped off in Munich and agreed terms with Juventus, then eventually settled on Fulham – all within the same day.

“I am happy he didn’t arrive,” blasted Fiorentina director of sport Daniele Prade on Radio Blu.

“I’ve never seen anything like it. We want the airplane ticket refunded and will certainly demand that reimbursement from his agent.

“In any case, Berbatov would’ve been the icing on the cake of an excellent transfer session, so we are happy as we are.”

Berbatov claimed this week he had never actually signed anything or "made pledges" with the other clubs.
