Former Napoli midfielder Mariano Bogliacino believes the Partenopei are primed to launch a serious bid for the Serie A title.

The Uruguayan, who left Naples last year after six years as an Azzurri player, believes that the strength in depth Walter Mazzarri's side have in the final third could put them in Scudetto contention come the end of the season.

“Napoli can win the league,” Bogliacino told Radio Crc. “They are an established and quality group. There are many teams fighting for the title, but I think Serie A this season will be a close one.

“Up front they have a wide choice,” the veteran, now with Lecce, added. “It is difficult to choose between Marek Hamsik, Lorenzo Insigne, Edinson Cavani and Goran Pandev, because all of them can damage a defence.”

Napoli, currently joint top of Serie A, host Parma this weekend, looking to continue their 100 per cent start to the season.
