Lorenzo Insigne got a shock phone call from Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero after admitting that the No 10 was his idol.
After telling the media that Del Piero was his hero following his first call-up to the national side last week, Del Piero contacted the Napoli attacker.
The 37-year-old congratulated the youngster for his evolving career, as well as promising to send him a Juventus shirt which he wore against Atalanta last season.
Insigne has spoken of his regret in not getting the chance to play against Del Piero after the World Cup winner opted to join Sydney FC this summer.
“Alex is a true gentleman,” Insigne’s agent, Fabio Andreotti, told Radio CRC. “A man of great humanity with style and humility.
“Alex countered the affection of Insigne with a great gesture. It was a good deed done for the benefit of a youngster such as Lorenzo.”
