Vincenzo Montella admits he’ll be emotional when facing his former club Catania, but is keeping the Fiorentina cards close to his chest.

“It will be emotional seeing so many familiar faces, but we must be wary, as Catania have some very dangerous players,” said the Coach. Click here for a match preview.

“I was only at Catania for a year, but formed a great rapport with everyone. The squad is practically unchanged too, so it will be a different type of game for me on an emotional level.

“I expect a difficult match, though one that Fiorentina can and should win. Who will partner Stevan Jovetic? I prefer not to reveal my line-up ahead of time, but we do have several different options.”

Luca Toni is one of those candidates after his surprise deadline day transfer to Florence.

“I found him in great shape, much better than I expected, and he is very enthusiastic. What are our objectives this season? There’s no point discussing that now, as I prefer actions to words.

“We’ve got to target the goal more, as possession is all well and good but ultimately futile if you don’t score.”

Montella also commented on the reports that Jovetic considered a move to Chelsea or Manchester City this summer.

“It is understandable that he’d be tempted by clubs playing in the Champions League, but he is convinced he made the right choice by staying in Florence and can improve even more while he’s here.”
