“I would prefer not to win a game in which we created 10 scoring opportunities than draw or win while pegged back,” insisted Ventura.

“At least the first scenario would confirm to me that the players are on the right track and gives you further desire to keep going.

“We do not suffer from the anxiety of needing a result at all costs. Doing well does not necessarily mean getting three points, but rather it’s the fans leaving the stadium proud of their team.

“Obviously winning is great and would be the best result, but for the last 15 months we have searched primarily for a philosophy of football that provides us with chances. It is this approach that has earned us packed out home games and I’m happy it has happened.

“It will be the first time many of these lads have faced such an important club as Inter, but the truth is we must not get nervous. We must not get nervous.”

Ventura is one of the oldest Coaches in Serie A this season, while Nerazzurri boss Andrea Stramaccioni is the youngest.

“I hope Stramaccioni has a long career. He’s fortunate, because not everyone goes straight from the Primavera youth team to a top side. All his players speak highly of him. This is a great opportunity for him and I hope he can make the most of it.”
