Pippo Inzaghi has distanced himself from rumours that he could soon be handed the Milan job if Massimiliano Allegri is axed.
The tactician’s future is in doubt after they lost 1-0 at home to Atalanta on Saturday. They were also defeated at San Siro in Week 1 when newly promoted Sampdoria collected a 1-0 victory.
Whispers suggest that Inzaghi, in collaboration with Mauro Tassotti, could be turned to if Allegri is shown the door.
“I’m disappointed with the display at the weekend, but you have to remain optimistic,” the former centre-forward noted.
“We have to give the team and the Coach some time so that they can work in peace,” the youth sector Coach continued.
“My future? For now, I’m just concentrating on winning something with my Allievi side, then we’ll see what happens.”
Inzaghi was handed a coaching role at the club this summer after his playing contract came to an end at the Meazza.
