Zamparini counts cost of sackings

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini admits “if I thought about the money I’ve spent on Coaches, I’d feel like shooting myself...”

The fiery patron has very little patience with his tacticians and, having gone through three last season, fired Giuseppe Sannino after just three Serie A games.

New arrival Gian Piero Gasperini makes his debut for the Sicilians against Atalanta on Sunday.

“If I thought about the money I’ve spent on Coaches, I’d feel like shooting myself,” Zamparini told Tuttosport.

“It must be more than €10m, as I’ve been firing people for 25 years. What really hurts me is that a factory worker won’t earn €1m in his entire life, so we ought to give much less to Coaches.

“The wages should be a maximum of €100,000. It’s ridiculous that working as a Coach for three years means you never have to work again.”
