The Argentine moved to PSG in the summer after the club are believed to have paid around €30m for his services.

However, reports in France this week have suggested that the Argentine is missing the unique atmosphere of Naples.

“I must admit that the atmosphere of the Stadio San Paolo can not be found elsewhere,” he commented.

“I took the decision to leave, it was a choice I made. We’ll have to wait for a bit before we can say whether I made a mistake or not. But I think I took a decision that I had to make.

“I’ll always thank the people of Naples for the way they treated me. I certainly wish the squad well as they are a great group.”
