Maarten Stekelenburg has admitted that he is to blame for Roma’s inability to beat Sampdoria on Wednesday night.
The capital club had taken the lead in the game through Francesco Totti, but a mistake from the ‘keeper allowed 10-man Doria to snatch a point.
“I take all of the responsibility for the Sampdoria goal that we conceded,” the former Ajax No 1 commented.
“My error cost Roma three points tonight.”
The Giallorossi will be next in action on Saturday when they travel to Turin to take on rivals and Italian champions Juventus.
“They will be a hard opponent,” Stekelenburg added. “Fiorentina played better against them on Tuesday, but the Bianconeri still remain the strongest team at this moment in time.”
