Ref technically inadequate, say Milan

Vice-President Adriano Galliani has become the latest man from Milan to criticise the performance of the referee in the 1-0 defeat to Inter.

Boss Massimiliano Allegri questioned the performance of official Paolo Valeri after the game and Galliani is just as bemused.

“You all saw what happened, the referee was worth four out of 10 on a report card,” the official stated on Monday.

“If all of the newspapers have given a four to Valeri then there must be a reason for it…

“I’ve been told by our lawyers that if I say his performance was technically inadequate then I don’t risk being punished.”

Although the referee dismissed Inter’s Yuto Nagatomo early in the second half, Milan felt that they had a perfectly good goal disallowed and were then denied a Robinho penalty.

“His performance in the whole game was strange,” Galliani continued. “Our problems were compounded by the problems of the referee and that disappoints me.

“It’s a shame as we were the only side who played. I have spoken with Allegri and we’ll look to get out of this situation.”

Milan have now won two, drawn one and lost four of their first seven games, but the Diavolo insist that no coaching change is on the horizon.

“Allegri is not at risk, even if I am certain that our squad is a lot better than what the League table suggests,” Galliani confirmed.
