'I would play anywhere for Azzurri'

Marco Verratti has admitted he would ' even play in goal' if it meant starting for Italy on Friday against Armenia.

The Paris Saint-Germain youngster has conceded that he does not mind where he plays, if at all, for Cesare Prandelli's side, and also wished to thank his national and club Coaches for their support.

“Trequartista?” he told a Press conference today. “I've always said that I just want to play for Italy, even if it meant going in goal! I just want to try and do everything the Coach asks, and give everything in training.

“I would love to repay the faith [PSG boss] Carlo Ancelotti and Prandelli have shown in me. I do not feel like an important part of the team, just lucky to be a part of it. I know that at 19, playing for your national team does not happen to everyone.

“When the fans sing my name, I am happy,” he said. “But I know I have to continue to improve. Ancelotti is like a father to me. He is a Coach who has helped me a lot, and I want to thank him for the opportunity he has given me."
