Mario Balotelli is a doubt for Friday’s World Cup qualifier between Italy and Armenia because of a fever.
“He’s got a cold which is affecting him a little physically,” said Azzurri team doctor Enrico Castellacci. “He’s not at his best, but hopefully he’ll feel better on Friday.”
Should the Manchester City man not be passed fit for the tie, Italy boss Cesare Prandelli is expected to turn to Juventus’ Sebastian Giovinco.
The latter will be placed alongside Roma’s Pablo Daniel Osvaldo in the attacking department of Prandelli’s 4-3-1-2.
Italy probable: Buffon; Maggio, Barzagli, Bonucci, Criscito; De Rossi, Pirlo, Marchisio; Montolivo; Osvaldo, Balotelli (Giovinco)
