The Manchester City striker was meant to start against Armenia on Friday evening, but pulled out due to a heavy cold and high temperature.

“It was a positive test for Balotelli and today he started the road to recovery. He needs to get back some strength, but it is all going fairly well,” explained Professor Enrico Castellacci.

Giovinco started instead and limped off in the second half of that 3-1 victory, clutching an ice pack to his left ankle.

“That is nothing worrying,” added the Italy medic.
