Palermo director Pietro Lo Monaco insists Maurizio Zamparini “was only joking” when he declared his intention to sell the club.

The President told media he was broke and continuing negotiations with Arabian investors, as he’d be ready to accept a €100m offer.

“You journalists know that the headline has to make an impact, so Zamparini had the same idea in an amusing interview. He was only joking,” assured Lo Monaco.

“There is no intention to sell Palermo, though we are looking for investors who can provide liquidity so we can aim for more important targets.

“Palermo are a strong club who want to do well. I invested part of my money into the side because I believe in the Rosanero and think this club can have an important future.”
