Arsenal's Italian goalkeeper Vito Mannone has denied rumours he wants to leave the Premier League club and return to Serie A.

The 24-year-old left Atalanta in 2005 to join the north London club, and had been reported this month as saying he would one day like to sign for Milan.

But he has today renounced those comments, claiming he wants to stay at the Gunners' for 'as long as possible'.

“I want to clarify that the rumours spread have been untrue,” he told the Arsenal Player. “I still have a few years left on my contract with Arsenal and I'm happy to be here.

“I want to stay at Arsenal for as long as possible. I do not want to go anywhere else.”

Mannone has enjoyed an extended period in Arsene Wenger's starting XI of late, having benefited from an injury to No. 1 goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
