Napoli’s Morgan De Sanctis will start in goal for Italy tonight against Denmark after Gigi Buffon failed a fitness test.

The Juventus custodian has been struggling with a minor left thigh strain, but was eager to play at San Siro this evening.

Buffon underwent a number of exercises this morning, but Italian news agency ANSA claim that he didn’t prove his fitness.

The Azzurri captain will now hope to recover in time for Saturday’s Serie A showdown between Juventus and Napoli.
