Bosko Jankovic has spoken of his delight at being handed the Genoa armband in the absence of regular captain Marco Rossi.
“I’m honoured by it,” the attacking midfielder noted on Wednesday afternoon. “Especially as I’m a foreign player in a club with a great tradition. I’m really very proud.”
Rossi has had to relinquish the captaincy given that he has appeared in just one League game so far this season and that was as a substitute.
Jankovic, meanwhile, has scored one goal in five domestic appearances for the Stadio Marassi outfit in 2012-13.
Genoa have had a mixed start to the season, but they will be looking for victory when they entertain Roma at the weekend.
“We’ll have to work hard on our ball possession,” he stated. “We also need to try to be calmer when asked to control games.”
