The agent of Modibo Diakite is refusing to rule out a new contract at Lazio – even if talks have stalled.

The defender is only tied to the club until June 2013 and he has yet to play this season after so far refusing to extend his agreement.

Lazio have offered him a €750,000 salary, but the stopper is asking for €1m per campaign in order to stay.

“Diakite is working hard to be selected again,” Ulisse Savini stated. “I’m hopeful that, at the end of the day, we can reach a compromise with Lazio. I don’t think it’s over.

“After all, Diakite turned down a number of destinations in the summer because the Biancocelesti are his priority.”

There are reports that Diakite is refusing to budge because he already has an agreement with another club once he becomes a Bosman player.

“Those rumours are just fantasy,” the agent added. “Let’s not joke about here. Whoever wants the player will have to speak with Lazio, not with us.”
