Christian Vieri believes Alessandro Del Piero was right to leave Juventus this summer and move to Sydney F.C.
The Bianconeri legend was offered a number of different opportunities having announced he would leave the Turin giants at the end of last season, but his former teammate at the Old Lady has claimed that Australia was the right choice.
“Italian football has lost a great champion,” he told Calcio News. “But I know that Alex is happy and his decision has to be respected.
“To change countries is difficult, but Australia is a better place and he has chosen well.
“We often exchange text messages, and soon I'm going to visit him in Sydney.”
Australian-born Vieri played just one season with Del Piero at Juventus, winning the Scudetto, and enjoyed a fruitful relationship for the Italian national team over eight years, finishing runners-up at Euro 2000.
