Pellegrini proud of Milan respect

Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini was proud to see Milan revolutionise their system. “It means we have become a big club.”

The Spaniards are in their debut Champions League campaign and lead the group with a 100 per cent record after beating the Rossoneri 1-0.

“We saw Milan changed and adapted to face us, which means Malaga have become a big club and deserve to be in the Champions League,” Pellegrini told Italian Mediaset television.

Massimiliano Allegri introduced a brand new 3-4-3 system for the game at La Rosaleda. Joaquin missed a penalty in the first half, but scored the winner after the break.

“We weren’t sure how Milan would be set out, but I had told the lads to pass the ball around and once they got hold of the initiative, they didn’t let go. It’s just a shame we didn’t put the result under lock and key earlier.

“I don’t know the reality of the situation at Milan, but I can see a new era emerging there and big changes.”

Malaga are the only side left in the group phase who are yet to concede a goal and already sit five points clear of second-placed Milan.

“Right now we are in a good position, but until there is mathematical certainty then we cannot say that we are already qualified.”
